A Community Summer Camp for Timeless Fun

Friday the 26th marked the end of the fifth and final week of the Montorso Wild Camp, now in its third edition; in 2024, this summer camp was promoted by Frignano Vivo.

When you see the Montorso church from above, you wouldn't expect that it is the center of the Montorso Wild Camp: gentle hills, a small settlement gathered around the bell tower. Yet, it is precisely in the churchyard, in the surrounding meadows, on the small beach volleyball and soccer fields, and in the surrounding woods that the Montorso Wild Camp takes place.

Founded in 2022 by Fabio Balestri and Mattia Pinotti, its goal is to carry out outdoor recreational and physical activities in contact with nature, involving children aged around 4 to 12 years old, during the month of July and part of June. This year marks its third edition, hosted for the first time under Frignano Vivo.

In the late morning, after engaging in various physical activities, the youngest play cards or draw on large tables in the shade, while others, a bit older, try another bicycle obstacle course. They are waiting to eat for a group of older kids who went on a more challenging bike ride.

The volunteers of the Montorso Group are busy in the kitchen preparing crescentine and fillings (lard and parmesan, cold cuts, caciotta cheese). As soon as the group returns, everyone sits at the table where all eat with appetite, sharing stories of the morning or chatting about this and that.

After lunch, in the surrounding meadow, some draw and others try the stilts: a bit of rest and digestion before starting the "Olympics," which will conclude the week of the summer camp. Even the older ones don't have smartphones in their hands, and in truth, they don't seem to miss them.

Among the participants, there are some who know each other from school, others who see each other only at the summer camp; there are relatives and siblings; the older ones take care of the younger ones, and a disabled boy enjoys the company of others. The fun here is peaceful and timeless.
